Let Me Fall

She pulled the coat close to her body. She hated the fall. She hated the small town she was chained to. She hated how she was chained to that stupid, little town. She felt stuck, up on a big island in the sky. She wanted to run off the edge and just fall.

All those thoughts were expelled when she stopped. "A cliff..." She walked as close to it as she could. Her coat dropped to the ground. Cold air engulfed her, but amidst the cold, she seemed to burn. Her fingertips ached to feel, and she dropped to her knees, digging her fingers into the dirt. Fresh tears fell, speckling her lap and shirt.
