'You'd Be Surprised' by Elizabeth

You'd Be Surprised

Glitter

Glittered eyes, that silken frame
Camera obscura, the unwritten story
Changed my mind – changed my name
Put me in another’s story

Glittered of the life untold
Acting on the worldly stage
Mask’d and costum’d, bright and bold
Scripted life, that endless age

Glittered so, your truth so kind
Eclipsed my poor heart of brass
Gold too good to break its bind
Your alchemy turned it all to glass.

Now I stand, the curtain fell
Last performance of that play
I am bare of persona’s hell
Glittering masks ripp’d away.

Glitter false, I never knew
Would you find me with a second glance?
Pulled from lies, I hold to you
Your love guides me in this trusting dance.
